Triton Awards Program May 16
BOURBON – The Triton High School academic awards program has been set for May 16.
High school academic awards will be in the auditorium at 8:10 a.m. Recognitions, some scholarships and honor roll will be presented.
The top academic awards will be given at an evening awards banquet at Christo’s Banquet Hall May 16 at 6:30 p.m. Attendance is by invitation only, which should have been received already. RSVP by May 5.
Community scholarship awards will be announced at the high school commencement program June 1.
Junior High awards will be presented at 1:30 p.m. May 29 in the auditorium.

Triton Jr.-Sr. 21st Century Scholars Program
BOURBON – Are you worried about how you are going to pay for your child’s college education?
The Indiana 21st Century Scholars program offers income-eligible students up to four years of paid tuition at an eligible Indiana college or university after they graduate from high school.
In order to be eligible for this program, you must sign your child before June 30 of the student’s eighth-grade year.
Registration is done online only at www.Scholars.IN.gov

Kindergarten Registration At Akron Continues
AKRON – Akron Elementary School is still taking registrations for students going into kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year.
Parents can come into the office anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to register their child throughout May.
Students attending kindergarten during the 2014-15 school year must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1.
A birth certificate and shot records are required when the child is registered.
Early registration for kindergarten students is critical in planning for next year’s kindergarten program. If you have a child to be enrolled but are unable to attend registration, contact the Akron Elementary School office at 574-893-4646.

Akron Parents Announce ‘Spring Fling’
AKRON – Akron Parent Support Group’s annual “Spring Fling” will be May 9 at Akron Elementary School.
The food concession is sponsored by the Akron Chamber of Commerce. It will be from 5 to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. Prices vary from 50 cents to $3.
Carnival games will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are three for $1 for games and face painting. The photo booth is $2.
The silent auction will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with the live auction at 7:30 p.m. Make bids on items available including classroom baskets.
The raffle will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

Sleepy Owl Hosts Third Annual Golf Outing Fundraiser
SYRACUSE – The Sleepy Owl, Syracuse, is hosting a pre-party and a live auction at the Syracuse Community Center June 13.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. There will be a cash bar with entertainment provided by Dave Dugan Comedy and Dueling Pianos. There will also be a consignment for the live auction.
The golf outing shotgun start is at 8 a.m. at Maxwelton Country Club June 14. There will be prizes for different holes and a putting contest. Team sponsorship is $300, which includes the pre-party, dinner and golf. Proceeds will go to the Lakeland Youth Center, Syracuse Rotary and Women of Today.
