New YMCA Program Offers Free Groceries For Those With Type 2 Diabetics

The Kosciusko Community YMCA announced a brand new program for type 2 diabetics called What Can I Eat.

This nutrition-based support program is designed by the American Diabetes Association, fueled by Bento, and will work to help those in the community living with type 2 diabetes eat their way to better diabetes control, according to a news release from the YMCA.

Throughout the nine-week program, participants will receive a free resource box and groceries that can be used to prepare delicious meals and education on proper meal planning and budgeting. Each participant will also receive hands-on training to better manage blood glucose and will work with interactive content to learn to prepare meals.

The What Can I Eat program is free for anyone in the community who is living with type 2 diabetes, has internet access, can receive SMS messages and is able to pick up their grocery orders from participating stores.

To register for What Can I Eat, you must attend the program orientation on Feb. 13. You can attend virtually from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. or in person at the Parkview Warsaw YMCA from 6 to 7 p.m.
