New drug discount cards will be available to Kosciusko County residents Wednesday.
The cards are part of a program available to county residents through the National Association of Counties and pharmaceutical services company Caremark Rx Inc.
Through Kosciusko County's membership in NACo, all county residents qualify for the program, which can save them an average of 20 percent on prescription drug purchases. Residents will show their discount cards to their pharmacist when buying prescription medicines for themselves or family members which are not already covered by the resident's insurance or other discounts.
The cards could offer significant savings to the uninsured and underinsured in the county.
The cards are free and can be used at any participating pharmacy. There are no membership fees or enrollment costs for the program. Residents do not have to be Medicare beneficiaries to be eligible for this program. There is no limit on how many times program participants may use their discount cards.
According to the NACo Web site, program discounts will vary depending on whether the purchased drugs are name brand or generic, and mail-in orders may net larger discounts. Participants may even get discounts on prescriptions for their pets.
The discount cards will be available Wednesday at the following participating pharmacies: CVS, Syracuse, North Webster and Warsaw; The Pillbox, Milford, Mentone and Warsaw; Pamida Pharmacy, Syracuse; Walgreens, Wal-mart, Owen's Pharmacy, Zale Drugs, Marsh and the Kosciusko County Courthouse, all in Warsaw.
