New Medical Services Looking At Pierceton

Posted

PIERCETON - Is there a doctor in the town?

Pierceton residents who might have been asking this question may soon have several from which to choose.

Information provided at the Pierceton Town Council Monday night indicates that two clinics will be available to serve ill people in and around the town.

The old Mill Inn Fabrics building on Main Street, which most recently housed Dr. Richard Potts, was reportedly donated to Kosciusko Community Hospital. The facility will be converted into a clinic run by the hospital, according to town officials.

Officials from KCH were not available for comment this morning.

Potts was affiliated with Whitley Memorial Hospital - part of the Parkview Health System - and that institution is investigating the purchase of ground west of the industrial park as a possible site for a medical clinic. More information will be available Wednesday afternoon following a meeting in which the matter will be discussed, according to WMH spokesman Bill Andreas.

Two visiting doctors from WMH continue to see patients in Pierceton on a part-time basis until plans are finalized, Andreas said. "Whitley Memorial Hospital is highly interested in maintaining quality healthcare services in that area," he said.
