The Warsaw Fire Department responded to a residential fire in a trailer park at 3104 E. Wooster Road, lot 17, Monday at around 12:25 p.m. A neighbor called the fire in after noticing smoke pouring out one of the windows, then grabbed a garden hose and stuck it through the window to douse the fire, according to Fire Chief Mike Brubaker. Before WFD arrived, Milford Fire Chief Todd Haines responded to the call while driving nearby and took over garden hose duty, said Brubaker, crediting Haines and the neighbor with preventing the fire from getting worse. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, likely due to a lit cigarette, Brubaker said. Harland Cole is the homeowner, though there was no one home at the time and no injuries were reported, according to Brubaker. Damage was estimated at $2,500.
