Negreros Named Valedictorian At Culver Academies

CULVER - Warsaw resident Adriann Negreros graduated June 6 from the Culver Academies, where he was named valedictorian of the Class of 2010.

Negreros, son of Dr. and Mrs. Francisco Negreros, was one of four Warsaw residents graduating from the Marshall County college-prep boarding school.

The Harvard-bound Negreros had a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, earning him the Jonas Weil Award as valedictorian. As a Culver Military Academy cadet, he also earned The Scholarship Medal for achieving the highest cumulative grade point average during his second- and first-class years (junior/senior).

Negreros was a member of the Cum Laude and Blue Key honor societies as a senior and junior, respectively. He also was a member of the Spanish Honor Society. He was the Regimental Academic Officer and a member of the Regimental Staff, the highest-ranking first-classmen (seniors) in the Culver Military Academy Corps of Cadets. Negreros also ran cross country and track.

His senior service project involved instructional clinics at the Rozella Ford Golf Club for children 3 to 13 years old.

Other members of the Culver Academies' Class of 2010 from Warsaw were:

- Tayler Ferguson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Ferguson and granddaughter of Rick and Pam Dixson, who will attend Northwestern University in the fall.

As a senior, Ferguson was a National Merit Scholarship Commended Scholar, a member of the Cum Laude and Fine Arts honor societies, and a President's Education Award winner. She also won Culver's School for the Entrepreneur's China competition, earning a scholarship for a Spring Break in Mission trip to China.

Ferguson was co-captain of the Equestriennes, Culver Girls Academy's mounted honor unit, and rode in the 2009 Inaugural Parade for President Obama. She served on Common Council, CGA Senior Advisory Board, CGA Council, was a dorm chair, and held various prefect positions. Ferguson also was a member of student newspaper and yearbook staffs, and a member of CGA's Leadership Committee for Africa.

- Hanna Klondaris, daughter of Michael Klondaris and Dr. Lena Fernback, who will matriculate at Earlham College. Klondaris served as the third-rotation Senior Prefect, the highest-ranking senior girl in Culver Girls Academy. As a senior, she also received a President's Education Award and was the recipient of the Student Activities Award, given to the member of the graduating class who has enhanced the quality of life on campus through creative planning and responsible implementation of student activities and programs.

She was also a member of the Fine Arts Honor Society (music), the French Honor Society, was vice president of the Campus Activities Board, co-president of Greenlife, and a member of the varsity soccer, swimming and track teams.

- Anne Quella, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Quella, who will be a freshman at St. Xavier University. Quella was a member of the Academies' Model United Nations team that competes on a national level and served on the Academies' Relay For Life committee. She was a member of Dancevision and the Student Admissions Organization, the varsity sailing team and was a senior cheerleader.Located on Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver, Ind., Culver Academies is a boarding school offering a college-preparatory curriculum for boys and girls in grades nine through 12.
