Neenah Acquires Dalton

The Dalton Corp. announced Wednesday it has been acquired by the Wisconsin-based Neenah Foundry Co., an Advanced Cast Products company.

The sale was finalized Sept. 8, according to Dalton controller Scott Reinholt.

"Neenah is one of the largest producers of manhole and sewer frames and covers, and tree-base grates and heavy-duty airport castings for municipalities," Reinholt said.

Neenah Foundry Corp. was founded in 1872 and operates two modern foundries in the Neenah area. It had 19 percent of the municipal metal casting market in 1996, he said.

"If you look at just about any manhole cover or drain grate, you'll see the Neenah name," Reinholt said.

The acquisition will not have a major impact on Dalton employees and the company will not produce anything new or different than its current market focus - metal castings for air conditioning and refrigeration units, Reinholt said.

"Dalton won't be producing any casting for Neenah. Neenah will be using Dalton to expand its product offerings and its market share," he said.

In addition to the Warsaw foundry, Dalton also operates foundries in Kendallville, Ind., and Ashland, Ohio, as well as a machining facility in Stryker, Ohio.
