SOUTH BEND - Audiences will find delight in each performance of ShakeScenes, where local grade-schoolers, high school students and other members of the community take to the stage.

Together they present an assortment of short scenes taken from the works of Shakespeare. Audiences will see 10 different scenes at each performance and more than 100 of colleagues, friends and neighbors on stage as the many works of Shakespeare are celebrated in just one weekend. Come find out why ShakeScenes, year after year, is one of our most popular and inspiring events.

Performances are Saturday and Sunday, free of charge and start at 2 p.m. at Washington Hall, University of Notre Dame.

The popular Young Company - comprised of students from the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary's College, and several other universities from across the nation - tours this season with "The Taming of the Shrew", visiting multiple outdoor venues in Indiana and Michigan July 18 through Aug. 23.

The Young Company's performances are a way to enjoy a warm summer evening with the entire family. All performances are free of charge.

The Young Company will be at Central Park Plaza, Warsaw, at 7 p.m. July 30.

As the professional theatre in residence at the University of Notre Dame, the Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival presents world-class productions on its mainstage while fostering young actors through educational performance opportunities such as the Young Company and ShakeScenes programs.Since its inception in 2000, the program has grown exponentially. Today, housed in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, it reaches thousands of people each year with Shakespeare's timeless words.

The Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival is a central component of Shakespeare at Notre Dame, which also consists of the McMeel Family Chair in Shakespeare Studies, the Ryan Producing Artistic Director, Actors From The London Stage, ancillary lectures and events, and library collections.

Shakespeare at Notre Dame's mission is to become a pre-eminent venue for the study and performance of the works of Shakespeare, providing Notre Dame and the wider community an on-campus culture steeped in the works of William Shakespeare - both on the page and on the stage.
