The Times-Union has joined a consortium of newspapers around the country that will carry a reader-participation contest in conjunction with the upcoming NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The contest features a grand prize of $25,000 in cash.
The grand prize will go to the contestant from among all participating newspapers who tallies the most of the 2,000 possible points or who prevails in a Tiebreaker system. Contestants score points by correctly selecting the winners of the 63 tournament games - all predictions made before the tournament begins at noon Eastern Time Thursday.
In addition to the grand prize winner, a winner from among the Times-Union readership will win the local prize of a $500 Rock Bottom Warehouse Shopping Spree.
The contest will appear in the newspaper today. Deadline for contestant entry is noon Eastern Time Thursday. You may enter only once. Filling out extra forms and putting your friends' and relatives' names on them violates this rule. Any such entries are destroyed prior to scoring.
Only one means of challenging judges' decisions exists. Preliminary winning scores will be announced at noon Eastern Time on April 4 at the following Web site: www.usaonline.net/power
If you think you have a higher score than the local or national winner, you have 24 hours to appeal by phoning 303-393-6343 or by e-mail at the Web site.
No appeal will be heard after noon Eastern Time on April 5. Winners will be announced in the Times-Union the week of April 7.
Enter the contest by mailing your completed entry form, postmarked by midnight Wednesday, to the Times-Union, P.O. Box 1448, Warsaw, IN 46581-1448, or you may bring in your completed entry form by noon Thursday to the Times-Union, corner of Indiana and Market, downtown Warsaw.
