Nappanee Plane Crash

Indiana State Police responded to a plane crash Friday afternoon in Nappanee. Around 12:09 p.m., the small, single-engine, home-built plane left the Nappanee Airport on U.S. 6 and had engine trouble. The pilot, Alton Gingerich, 69, of Goshen, was unable to return to the airport and crashed into a field near the intersection of U.S. 6 and CR 11. Gingerich was not injured in the crash. The FAA arrived at the scene and was investigating the incident Friday afternoon.
