Nappanee Man Facing Rape, Sexual Misconduct & Child Molesting ChargesA Nappanee man is being held on $145,000 bond in the Elkhart County Jail for allegedly raping and molesting a child.

Jason Michael Campbell, 45, of 558 W. Walnut St., Nappanee, was booked in the Elkhart County Jail at 1:40 p.m. Monday and faces charges for child molesting with a victim less than 14 years old, a Class A felony; rape-intercourse, a Level 3 felony; sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 4 felony; and child molesting, a Class C felony.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed June 10 in Elkhart Superior Court III, Nappanee Police received information that between June 2011 and March 2017, Campbell engaged in fondling and had sexual intercourse with a child victim at two separate homes in Nappanee.

Nappanee police initiated their investigation Oct. 8, 2019, after the Indiana Department of Child Services reported the abuse.

The victim told investigators during a forensic interview at the Child and Family Advocacy Center that she was terrified of Campbell and she feared he would come after her since a report has now been made.

The victim described three separate incidents that occurred, the first two of which happened when she was 8 or 9 years old, according to court papers. One of the alleged rapes resulted in the girl seeking medical treatment.

Campbell’s bond is set at $145,000.
