NAPPANEE - A Nappanee man is charged with murder in the Friday night shooting death of his son.
James T. Ball, 56, of 206-B W. Walnut St., is being held without bond in the Elkhart County Jail. He is accused of shooting his 30-year-old son, Jason H. Ball, of North Oakland Avenue, Nappanee.
According to a press release from the Nappanee Police Department, Jason Ball was found dead in an upstairs bedroom of the elder Ball's residence. Jason Ball suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
Police were called to the residence at 11:36 p.m. Friday after a report was made that a shooting occurred there.
No motive has been established for the shooting.
Indiana State Police assisted in the preliminary investigation.
An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today.
