NAPPANEE – A Nappanee man was arrested Friday after allegedly battering his wife then confining her against her will in April.
According to an affidavit filed by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, an officer met with the victim on April 22 who said she and her husband, Matthew Glassman, 27, were having a verbal argument at their Nappanee home. She told the officer Glassman grabbed her with both hands and threw her up against the wall, hitting her head against it. Glassman then allegedly took her cell phone and blocked her exit and refused to let her leave the residence.
The pair’s two children, ages 5 and 1, were present and could hear the battery occur, according to the affidavit.
The victim told police she was able to leave the residence after Glassman left for work the next day.
Police later spoke with Glassman, who said all he did was turn his wife around and she tripped and hit her head on the wall. However, he admitted he took her cell phone and turned it off and asked her not to leave the residence.
Glassman was arrested Friday and preliminarily charged with criminal confinement, domestic battery with a child present under 16 years old and domestic battery, and held on a $10,000 bond.
