Nappanee Man, 72, Faces Child Molesting ChargeA 72-year-old Nappanee man was arrested Wednesday for child molesting.
Lester R. Chupp, of 13778 N. CR 950W, Nappanee, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 3:32 p.m. Wednesday on the level 4 felony charge. His preliminary bond was set at $20,000 surety and $250 cash.
Detectives began an investigation after receiving a complaint of possible child molestation, according to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office. At the end of the investigation, Chupp was arrested.
Court documents filed today state that on Jan. 17 a man reported to the KCSO that a child under 14 years old reported Chupp had touched her breast when she was 10 or 11 years old.
Another man told deputy Thomas Waikel that the child said Chupp was constantly asking to see her breasts when she was 9 to 13 years old. She said Chupp told her how to stimulate herself.
The man said Chupp admitted to him that he touched the child’s breast on one occasion and asked to see her breasts on another.
Chupp told Waikel that he touched the girl’s breast on one occasion when she was 12, and asked to see her breasts another time.
