Nappanee Hosts Grand Opening Of Wastewater Treatment Plant

Posted
NAPPANEE – The city of Nappanee will host an open house at the new Wet Weather Treatment Facility, located at 451 N. Miriam St.

Tours will be open to the public on from 3 to 6 p.m. Sept. 26. A formal ribbon cutting will take place at 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

Mayor Phil Jenkins said, “The addition of this new project increases efficiency to our existing sewer system, adds capacity for future economic development and reduces pollution entering our waterways. Thanks to the work of the team of engineers, financial consultants and city officials, we were able to secure a grant through USDA that helped pay for 40% of the cost. We were also able to combine three phases into one to save utility customers additional future costs.”

Guests attending the open house will have the opportunity to not only view the improved facility, but also have the opportunity to ask questions of the wastewater staff.

Involved in the construction process were Commonwealth Engineers, Baker Tilly, HRP Construction Inc., BL Anderson Co. Inc., H.P. Thompson Co., Thieneman Construction Inc., Ice Miller, LLP, Toric Engineering and CE Solutions Inc.
