A Nappanee man was killed early Monday morning when a van struck his pickup on Ind. 119 near Goshen.

James W. Dunn Jr., 20, was killed when a van driven by Robert J. Flynn, 24, Goshen, hit his pickup.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, Flynn was driving northwest around 5:30 a.m. on Ind. 119 when he went off the road for unknown reasons, then swerved across the center line. Dunn was traveling southwest on Ind. 119 and attempted to avoid the van by driving off the northwest edge of the road. The van then struck Dunn's pickup.

Reports said that Dunn was killed on impact. Flynn was taken to Goshen General Hospital and admitted for pain in his lower leg and chest. He is listed in fair condition.

A passenger in Dunn's pickup, Angela M. Lehman, 17, of Nappanee, was treated at Goshen General and released.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department is continuing the investigation.
