NAPA Donates 3,000 Gloves For Healthcare WorkersAs the coronavirus pandemic wears on, long-term healthcare facilities like nursing homes are struggling to keep medical supplies in stock.
Thursday morning, NAPA Auto Parks, 812 N. Detroit St., Warsaw, donated three cases of gloves to the Kosciusko County Health Department to distribute to the healthcare industry where needed. Each case contained 10 boxes of 100 gloves.
NAPA President Josh Witt said they were waiting on another case of 1,000 gloves to give. “Anything we can do to help,” he said.
KCHD Administrator Bob Weaver said he just got a call prior to Thursday’s donation about a need for gloves. “Everyone is short on surgical masks, but they’re starting to get short on gloves, too,” he said.
The health department is tasked with supplying medical supplies to long-term health facilities, which mostly are nursing homes. “We’re doing the best we can,” Weaver said.
The big need is surgical masks, which Weaver said many places are short on.
To donate, he said a person or business can call anyone in public government, such as the health department.
NAPA’s donation came after County Commissioner Cary Groninger was contacted, and Groninger called the health department because he thought the health department would be good distributors, Weaver said.
“That’s what we do. We’ll get them out to the public,” Weaver said.
