FORT WAYNE – Nanette R. Daley, 58, of Fort Wayne, died of lymphoma  Aug. 27, 2011, in her residence.

She was born to Robert and Bobette Lauer, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 21, 1976, she married Dr. Patrick J. Daley, who survives.

She graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School in 1970 and St. Mary’s of Notre Dame in 1974.

She was a member of The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She dedicated her life to helping people with special needs. She served on The Advisory Council for Indiana Institute On Disability and Community, Indiana University, from 2002 until present, and as appointed lay member of the Indiana Legislative Commission on Autism from 1994 to 2006.  She was founder and past president of the Autism Society of Indiana and in 1996 organized and co-chaired a statewide autism conference in Indianapolis, attended by 1200 people. She volunteered as a consultant and advocate for families with special needs.

She lovingly raised three children: Patrick J. Daley Jr, 30, North Hollywood, Calif., and Carly Noel Daley, 28, and John Michael, 25, both of Fort Wayne. Also surviving are a sister, Margaret (and spouse David) van Burk; a brother, Michael (and spouse Florette) Lauer; mother-in-law, Evelyn Daley; and many beloved sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1122 S. Clinton St., Fort Wayne, with Msgr. Robert Schulte officiating.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. There will be a vigil at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
