SYRACUSE - Nancy C. Olivares, 79, of Syracuse, died at 7:23 a.m. May 23, 2010, in Goshen General Hospital.
She was born April 10, 1931, in Syracuse, to Everett F. and Lena Monroe Ketering. On May 16, 1953, in Syracuse, she married Jose Olivares, who survives.
She graduated from Syracuse High School in 1948. She lived in San Antonio, Texas, from the late 1950s until she returned in the mid 1990s. She formerly owned and operated Wawasee Beauty Salon in the early 1950s, was a communication supervisor with Marriott, San Antonio, and was human resource director for Continental Hotels, San Antonio.
Also surviving are five daughters: Elena and Luz "Lucy" Olivares, both of South Bend; Monica (and spouse Val) Garcia, Tivoli, Texas; Nancy K. Alaniz, San Antonio, Texas; and Toni (and spouse Joe) Van Gompel, Austin, Texas; four sons, Joseph Olivares, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Eric Olivares and Mark (and spouse Bea) Olivares, all of San Antonio; and Michael Olivares of Albuquerque, N.M.; 12 grandchildren; and two sisters, Joan (and spouse Jack) Stoelting and Jean Koher, all of Syracuse. She was preceded in death by a daughter .
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Parish, Syracuse, with Father Richard Hire officiating. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
