Re: Placing Blame

I take exception with the letter written by Kevin Raypholtz on the above subject. It is clear that it is meant to "stir up" the electorate especially in referring to Senator Barak Obama as "Hussein Obama," which has little to do with his views.

All of us are named by our parents and we have little to do with that decision. Clearly, he took the name that he was given as we all do. To infer that Mr. Obama's middle name makes him other than what he professes is plain ignorant.

Mr. Raypholtz, you have sought to make a disparaging distinction by "homing in" on a person's middle name, of which he has no control. It only serves to take the focus away from the real issues that permeate the presidential election in our country.

Mr. Raypholtz, you certainly have the right to complain about Democrats and Barak Obama's plans for the economy, but you do have to disparage his "middle" name, which was given to him by his parents of which he has no control. It is wrong to infer that his "middle" name ties him to negative people worldwide. It is a subtle act of discrimination that our country has sought to stop.

There are many of us that do not like the first and middle names we have and perhaps we would have chosen different ones. However, they are the names our parents gave us. We learn to live with it, or legally have our names changed. I give Barak Obama respect for keeping the name given to him by his parents knowing full well that it could be used against him.

Mr Raypholtz, I would hope that you would not be using Obama's middle name to "stir up" people. We should be above it.
