Nadine Ruth Jump, 93, went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Saviour, at 4:45 a.m. March 06, 2012, in Grace Village Healthcare, Winona Lake.

She was born April 15, 1918, in Compton, Ill., to Gilbert Paul and Eunice Clemons Stein. On July 17, 1937, in Crown Point, she married Marvin B. Jump, who died March 20, 1977.

She lived in Compton, Mendota, LaSalle/Peru and Lansing, all in Illinois, and Griffith, Schererville, New Haven and Auburn. On Jan. 1, 1985, she moved to Retired Tigers, Warsaw, then to Grace Village in 2010.

She did commercial sewing off and on; worked at the Del Monte plant, Mendota; and worked as an assembler at Hamilton Standard, Auburn, for 11 years, retiring in October 1984.

She was a 1936 graduate of Mendota High School. She sewed a lot in her earlier years – including bridesmaid gowns. She came to personally know the Lord May 18, 1952, at 34. She and her husband willingly opened their home to several needing a temporary place to call home; taught Sunday school and “Kid’s Club” with the Bible Club Movement while living in Illinois; taught “Good News Clubs” with Child Evangelism in Northern Indiana; led a Bible Study at Retired Tigers; was the oldest member of Christ’s Covenant Church, known as Grandma Jump to many;  served on the Missions Committee there and enjoyed communicating with missionaries through letters; and was involved with the ladies’ calling and prayer group in later years.

Surviving are three daughters:    Lois R. Polson, Killeen, Texas; Kay L. Sheggeby, Redmond, Okla.; and  Ina L. (and spouse Roger) St. John, Calera, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Lois M. Jump, Warsaw; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce J. Jump, who died July 1, 1983; a son, the Rev. Rollin L. Jump, who died March 28, 2009; a brother, Dale K. Stein, who died June 1, 1986; his father, Gilbert P. Stein, who died Oct. 11, 1981; and his mother, Eunice Stein, who died Sept. 30, 1987.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. (CST) Friday at Garden of Good Shepherd in Restland Cemetery, 204 11th St., Mendota, Ill., officiated by Gabriel J. Tribbett of Christ’s Covenant Church.
