WINONA LAKE – The Northern Lakes Music Studio is now open to the community for those who want individual or group instruction on all musical instruments. The studio offers opportunities to study music and enrich lives through the musical arts. The owner and lead instructor of the studio is Dr. Ardis Faber, trumpet instructor, music educator and conductor. Lessons and group classes are held at the Byers Music Hall on the campus of Grace College. The mission of the studio is “to offer aspiring musicians opportunities to study music holistically within an educational atmosphere that is both encouraging and supportive in their unique process of musical development; nurturing their abilities through patience, attentive listening, and inquisitive exploration,” said Faber. “There is a need for a center where a wide variety of instruction in the musical arts through individual and group study on all instruments, voice, piano music theory, composition, arranging, conducting, music technology and comprehensive musicianship classes and offered to all ages.” Faber has openings in her trumpet studio for students of all ages desiring to study privately or in “buddy” lessons. Lessons are “tailor made” for each student to target the student’s strengths and weaknesses, learning processes, and to assist in their development as a musician.Group classes in piano are now forming eight-week sessions poised to begin May 3, and are open to all ages and ability levels. Suzuki trained piano instructor Judy Ellison-Bollenbacher presents piano education in a positive way and encourages the students to have fun while learning to play the piano. In addition, a combination of ear training and note reading at a variety of levels is included in each session. Parents attend and are involved with the classes composed of younger students, becoming informed of their child’s progress. Classes will continue to be held during the summer, as well.
