Murder Suspect's Truck Found

Posted
Double-homicide suspect Omar Mora's truck was found early Monday morning on the north side of Chicago.

At 2:55 a.m. Monday, Chicago Police officers found the 2003 black Chevy Silverado belonging to Mora at the 2300 block of West Montana Street near the Kennedy Expressway.

According to the Chicago Police Department, the truck had been parked in that area for some time. There was a parking ticket from June on the windshield of the truck. The truck was discovered by "Plate Reader Technology" used by CPD where a van drives down streets in Chicago taking images of all the license plates then running them through several databases.

According to police, the reason the truck wasn't flagged earlier was because it was properly plated and there were no complaints from neighbors in the neighborhood. Also, when the truck was ticketed, it was done so by a meter maid and not by Chicago Police with access to criminal databases.

Mora is wanted in the May 23 murders of his wife, Lisa Heather Mora, and Harpal Singh.

Singh was murdered outside of the Phillips 66 gas station on East Center Street in Warsaw around 5 p.m. Lisa was shot to death at the Mora's residence on Vicky Lane in "The Country" subdivision.

It is believed by police that the vehicle had been parked on Montana Street since shortly after the murders.

The truck was brought back to Warsaw Tuesday night, and is currently being held by the Warsaw Police Department.

According to Warsaw Police detective Scott Whitaker, the truck has not been opened by either CPD or any local law officers. The vehicle will be processed on site by an Indiana State Police technician, most likely out of Fort Wayne.

"We're looking to find any possible evidence left by Omar Mora," said Whitaker. "Most obviously is the weapon used."

The weapon used to murder both Singh and Lisa was a .9mm handgun.
