PIERCETON - Murder charges are expected to be filed today against Ian James Clark, 34, Pierceton, in the death of Samantha Muchowicz, 2.
Around 2:01 p.m. Friday, the Kosciusko County Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a resident at 375 EMS R4 Lane, Ridinger Lake, Pierceton.
When Kosciusko County Deputy Sheriff Shane Bucher arrived at the scene, Matara Tell Muchowicz, 21, was outside the residence carrying her daughter, Samantha, 2.
The 2-year-old was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 3:40 p.m.
According to Kosciusko County Coroner John Sadler, the cause of Samantha's death was "multiple blunt trauma injury."
Clark was arrested and booked into Kosciusko County Jail around 6:42 p.m. Friday for aggravated battery. His bond was set at $250,000.
Clark was reportedly uncooperative, and told police that the girl suffered her injuries from a fall.
Murder charges were expected to be filed against Clark sometime today.
A report claimed there may have been sexual assault involved, though Sadler said that couldn't be confirmed as test results were still pending.
Samantha's death marks the third homicide in the county in less than a week.
Wednesday, Harpal Singh, 38, and Lisa Heather Mora, 32, were both shot and killed allegedly by Mora's husband, Omar.
Muchowicz was the daughter of Matara and John Muchowicz.
Muchowicz's full obituary appears on 3A of today's Times-Union.
