Multiple Meth-related Charges in Winona Lake

Posted
Three county residents face meth charges after wafting meth fumes caught the interest of a passing Winona Lake Police officer Saturday night, launching an investigation that turned up two labs in a home.

Around 7:20 p.m. Saturday, Officer Joe Bumbaugh was patrolling the 2000 Block of Packerton Road in Winona Lake when he smelled what seemed to be meth fumes in the area. Bumbaugh called in the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force, who then raided a home at 2080 Packerton Road.

Inside, officers found two  one-pot method methamphetamine labs.

The occupants of the home were removed due to the strong odors emitting from the labs, the task force said in a report. The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team was called in to process the scene.

Ricky Darrell Daniels, 51, of  the Packerton Road home, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend, maintaining a common nuisance and manufacturing methamphetamine. He is being held in Kosciusko County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Johnny Lee Helton, 39, of 306 S. Walnut St., Mentone,  was also arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and visiting a common nuisance. Charlene Kay Marshall, 40, of 509 E. Market St., Warsaw, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a legend and visiting a common nuisance. Each is being held on a $2,000 bond.
