Multiple Agencies Respond To Chicken House Fire On Ind. 25Multiple agencies responded to an old chicken house fire Wednesday morning along part of Ind. 25 known as Devil’s Backbone.
Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory Assistant Chief Aaron Bolinger said they were dispatched at 7:04 a.m. to 2304 S. Ind. 25, Warsaw, to the fire. They left the scene shortly after 10 a.m.
County records indicate the property is owned by Norman O. Jr. and Mary E. McKinney.
The fire was contained to the old chicken, which contained hay and miscellaneous materials. It was in a wooded type of area.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The homeowners were home at the time of the fire, but Bolinger said they were not aware of the fire until someone notified them.
Along with the WWFT, responding to the scene were the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Kosciusko REMC and the fire departments from Burket, Leesburg, Atwood and Winona Lake. Bolinger said there were multiple fire departments assisting because of the need for water and manpower.
