Mudlove Pottery has expanded into downtown Warsaw.
The Winona Lake-based maker of custom armbands since 2009 opened its new location, 122 S. Buffalo St., during First Friday. About 200 people dropped by, said owner Luke Wright.
Mudlove sells clay bracelets embossed with messages like “believe,” “passion” or “carpe diem,” or custom messages for individuals or special events. The company gives 20 percent from every sale to provide clean drinking water to the Central African Republic, through Integrated Community Development International in Warsaw.
Every purchase of a $5 band provides clean drinking water for one person in Africa for a year, Mudlove’s website states.
“Our mission has really caught on. We’re a small business that’s all about love,” Wright said Friday. “Everything we do, we want to be based around love, and we want other people to use Mudlove in their own way to show love to people.”
The clay message for each band takes about two weeks to make, with a process of firing and glazing to make it waterproof. Mudlove also sells necklaces, magnets and T-shirts, and Wright said they hope to offer new things like clay beads.
He said they opened the downtown location because they were running out of retail and production space in their original store.
“We were in a small space before and had to take a break from pottery, since there wasn’t room to make it,” he said. “With more room was can start doing pottery again.”
The Warsaw location is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mudlove is on the web at www.mudlove.com
