A Warsaw man was injured Tuesday night after losing control of the motorcycle he was driving and striking a car.
Zachariah L. Harding, 20, of EMS C27C, was not wearing a helmet when the 7:51 p.m. accident occurred on the Marketplace access road, 365 feet east of Eastlake Drive in Warsaw. He suffered bleeding to his head and was admitted to Kosciusko Community Hospital, where officials said this morning that he was in stable condition.
According to a Warsaw Police Department report, a witness said Harding was northbound across the Marketplace Shopping Center parking lot at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the motorcycle and slid on its side into a car driven by Carrie A. Sullivan, 16, South CR 600E, Pierceton. Witnesses also told police that Harding was riding a "wheelie" prior to the accident.
Harding's motorcycle left a 28-foot tire skid mark before sliding on its side for 104 feet. He told police at the scene that he didn't recall what happened.
Sullivan was eastbound on the access road when, according to the police report, she saw sparks coming toward the passenger side of her vehicle, then felt something hit her car.
