Police officers gather information from witnesses at the scene of a 2:45 p.m. Tuesday motorcycle accident at the intersection of Country Club Road and Pink Magnolia Drive, near Warsaw, while emergency medical crews tend to the victim in the background. Doug P. Whitaker, 31, of South Georgetown Court, Warsaw, complained of elbow pain after being thrown 20 feet from his motorcycle after the vehicle left the road for an unknown reason, struck a pile of rocks, skidded across the intersection and hit a railroad tie. Whitaker was treated at Kosciusko Community Hospital. The accident was investigated by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department. Damage to Whitaker's motorcycle is estimated at $1,000 to $2,500.
