Motorcyclist Dies In Crash On Ind. 13

PIERCETON – A Bremen man was killed in a single motorcycle crash Saturday.

James R. Ernsberger, 52, Bremen, suffered multiple head and neck injuries in the crash Saturday on Ind. 13 near CR 200N, Pierceton. He was found unresponsive by witnesses and airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment, where he later died from his injuries, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

KCSD deputies and emergency personnel responded at about 1:22 p.m. Saturday to the motorcycle crash, which involved a northbound motorcycle. The motorcycle was traveling in American Legion Post 154 Riders’ 10th annual 9/11 Ride To Remember 2018, a benefit to help the Homeless Veteran’s Center, cancer patients and families in need during the holidays, according to the website Michianabiker.com.

For an unknown reason, Ernsberger laid down the 2005 Harley Davidson in the roadway without making contact with the other vehicles. He was thrown from the motorcycle.

The news release states the crash is still under investigation.

The Kosciusko County Fatal Team was assisted at the scene by members of the Pierceton Fire Department, North Webster Fire Department, Lutheran EMS, Lutheran Air Ambulance and KCSD.
