More than a year after a van collided with a motorcycle, the motorcyclist in the accident has died.
Ricky Howard, 35, Atwood, died Monday in Logansport Memorial Hospital as a result of complications from a motorcycle accident May 24, 2007. His obituary appears on page 3A of today's edition.
According to police reports filed after the accident, Howard, then 34, was driving his Yamaha motorcycle on CR 100S May 24, 2007, when a red full-size Ford van, driven by Bruce J. Stichter, then 16, Warsaw, turned onto the road from CR 400W and collided with Howard.
Howard was flown from the scene by Samaritan Air Ambulance to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he was admitted with head and neck injuries and listed in critical condition. On May 25, 2007, he was listed in the intensive care unit at Parkview Hospital.
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department responded to the accident, and was assisted at the scene by Warsaw and Atwood fire departments, Multi-Township EMS and the Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team.
