NAPPANEE - A Nappanee woman is dead after a motorcycle accident Saturday night at about 9:53 p.m.
Kim Nine, 55, VanBuren Street, Nappanee, was driving a motorcycle south on Ind. 19. Deenene Flickinger, 42, also of Nappanee, was a passenger on the motorcycle.
A vehicle driven by Taylor Lincoln, 16, of Nappanee, entered the intersection of Ind. 19 and CR 50, just north of Nappanee.
As Lincoln entered the intersection headed eastbound on CR 50, a truck in front of Nine, also southbound on Ind. 19, turned west on CR 50.
Lincoln reportedly didn't initially see the motorcycle, according to an Elkhart County Sheriff's Department report. After seeing the motorcycle, Lincoln came to a stop, but Nine lost control of the motorcycle as he tried to slow down, according to the report.
Neither Nine nor Flickinger were wearing helmets.
Flickinger was pronounced dead at 11:58 p.m. Saturday at Elkhart General Hospital.
Nine was listed in critical but stable condition as of this morning.
