'Mother Nature,' actually Shelley Heckert from KC Recycling Depot, visited Pierceton Elementary School's first-grade classrooms May 14. Heckert came covered in litter and allowed the students to remove each item of litter and sort it as either a recyclable material or trash. There was an informative story about recycling and a discussion with questions answered following the story. The students were excited to share their own stories about recycling and brainstorm ways that they can contribute to saving the environment.
