Warsaw police are investigating an early-morning report of an armed robbery at a local motel.
The manager of the Super 8 Motel on Frontage Road in Warsaw called police at 3:08 a.m., after a man allegedly pointed a gun at him and asked for money.
The suspect was reportedly seen pacing outside the front doors of the business before he entered the motel. He then allegedly pointed a gun at the 25-year-old manager and, in a soft voice, said, "Give me your money."
The manager told police he at first didn't realize what was happening and the suspect then said, "Put your money in the bag" and handed him a white plastic bag. The employee then gave the suspect the bills from the cash registered and asked whether he wanted the change. He said the suspect looked at him and nodded, so he tipped the cash drawer into the bag.
The suspect then allegedly asked for the money from the safe, but when the manager told him he didn't have the combination, the suspect reportedly studied him for a moment, said, "Do not follow me" and ran out the door. The manager then went into the motel office, where he looked out a window and saw the suspect jump a snowbank while running eastbound through the lot of Colonial Homes. He then called police.
A canine search of the area ended near a stairway at Valley Forge Apartments.
The suspect is described as a tall male, possibly Hispanic. He was wearing a dark sweatshirt, a dark blue or black mask with an oval opening for the eyes and had the hood of his coat pulled over his head.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Warsaw Police Department at 372-9511.
