More Disrespect

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

I can't believe the disrespect once again of you, Mr. Slone and the Times-Union. Do you not have any respect, morals or feelings for other human beings? Just as things were starting to get a little easier for the England family and friends, you once again dragged Zach England's name through the mud.I was with his family that evening when your article came out in the Dec. 9 issue. Do you have any idea what it is like to be sitting there with his parents, and seeing them read this and the hurt and anger they have from this? Or hearing his beautiful son, who is just like his daddy, ask, Is my daddy alive?" I was one of his best friends and he was like another child to my parents. This hurts us all, and this is a smack in our faces once again.

In your article you wrote that the Allen County Coroner's Office said he had several drugs in his system, and they were above the therapeutic range. Did you see this report? Because he had three different things in his system, not "several." Which, if you probably do not know, one was prescribed to him, which would at this point leave two. I understand that you might be reporting what is told to you, but maybe you should read the report and know all the facts before you go publishing this kind of tactless news. If you're a parent, I would hope that nobody would do this to you and your family.

I would just hope that maybe you and your paper could speak to his family and friends to see the great and wonderful man Zach England was. We never once said he is perfect, and the last months of his life was not like him. He was so full of life, and everybody around him was always in awe of him and the person he was. He did so many good things for others, and even after passing has helped others.

Zach will always be in our hearts, and we will always have wonderful memories of him.
