Morality

Posted

Editor, Times-Union:

Many say you don't need to be godly to be moral. They might be right. But I believe that God is the reason why we have morality. Morality also disproves evolution, to some extent.

Lately, many politicians have been accused of sexual misconduct. Hillary Clinton may be accused of bribery due to the Uranium One sale of 20 percent of our uranium to the Russians. If we are all a higher form of animal, there would be no sexual misconduct or greed because animals have sex with other animals and survival of the fittest allows animals to have the advantage over weaker animals. Do cats have courts where tomcats are held on charges for impregnating too many female cats?

If God didn't exist and we are all a product of evolution, would we have courts, police officers or laws? Animals don't. Why did all the controls on our actions we call morality start in the first place? For morality, a way to prevent us from giving in to our primal urges, to have suddenly appeared would be like having a jetliner appear in a field one day and an airport to be built around it. Morality had to be originated by God because if people had their way, morality wouldn't exist.

For decades, it has seemed that Democrat values have been more immoral than Republican values. When it was against the law to drink alcoholic beverages, both Democrats and Republicans disobeyed the law. A larger percentage of Democrats live immoral lives than Republicans, it seems. More Democrats support the extermination of the unborn and doing activities that can shorten your life. If humans are a higher form of animal, why don't most animals exterminate the unborn or willfully do things that shorten their lives? Also, have you ever heard of animals slaughtering other animals senselessly like what happened in Las Vegas and in Texas?

Moral standards prevent me from sexually assaulting women, stealing, habitually lying and mistreating my body like many do. My Christian upbringing has kept me out of trouble often and I have faith in God, who is not a figment of my imagination. I believe Christ has saved my soul through the blood he shed on the cross for my sins. If God didn't exist, I most likely would be dead because it would be acceptable to kill me if I tried to have sex with the girlfriend of a jealous guy. Or I might have over a dozen kids. I might not have money problems since killing rich people to get their money would be acceptable.

Morality because of God produces a civil society. If there was no God, man would never go against their animalistic tendencies to create morality.
