WASHINGTON – Indianapolis Star Mr. Basketball Cody Zeller was playing on his home court for the final time, but it was Warsaw’s Nic Moore who was the go-to guy down the stretch Monday evening as the Indiana All-Stars beat the juniors 117-113 in a scrimmage at Washington High School. The Indiana University-bound Zeller finished with game-highs of 26 points and 19 rebounds, but the seniors used two three-pointers from Moore to seal the deal. Moore, who finished second in voting for the coveted Mr. Basketball award, scored 14 points and dished out four assists in 17 minutes of action off the bench, according to indystar.com The Illinois State recruit drilled a three-pointer to give the All-Stars a 114-111 advantage with 1:14 remaining. After the juniors drew within one point with 30 seconds left, Moore took another pass from Kentucky recruit Marquis Teague and buried it for three-points, accounting for the final score. Teague scored 24 points and dished out eight assists for the seniors, while Gary Wallace’s Branden Dawson added 19 points and 13 rebounds. Kokomo’s D.J. Balentine made seven treys in the loss and led the juniors with 25 points, while Hamilton Southeastern’s Gary Harris had 22 points, seven rebounds and seven steals. North Central’s Ronnie Harris chipped in with 18 points and four assists and Jeremy Hollowell of Lawrence Central added 15 points and five boards. In the girls scrimmage, the seniors had little trouble in beating the juniors 94-47. Miss Basketball Bria Goss of Ben Davis led the seniors with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Heritage Christian’s Liz Stratman contributed 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and four blocks. Elkhart Memorial’s Akyah Taylor scored 12 points for the seniors, while Kaila Hulls of Bloomington South scored 11 points and Evansville Memorial’s Mallory Ladd chipped in with 10 points and 11 rebounds. For the juniors, Jocelyn Mousty of Easter-Pekin led the way with 17 points and 13 rebounds. The All-Stars will scrimmage the juniors again Wednesday, this time at Kokomo. The girls game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game. Admission is $5. In addition to Moore, Whitko High School junior Logan Irwin will play Wednesday.
