Mooncakes

Posted
Dr. Shu-Chun Tseng (L), who teaches Mandarin Chinese for Warsaw Community Schools, provides samples of Mooncakes to Edgewood Middle School eighth-graders Monday morning.

Along with learning the language, students also are learning about the Chinese culture. There are many different versions of Mooncakes, including ones with ice cream.

Mooncakes are served during the Moon Festival and are part of a very long tradition. Moon Festival is celebrated just one day, on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, in the lunar calendar.

Students at Warsaw Community High School and Lakeview Middle School also got to sample the Mooncakes. This is the first year WCS has offered Mandarin Chinese to students.
