Christy Mock, daughter of Dennis and Laurie Mock, was selected to participate in the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund program in October through November of this year.
This program for teachers in the United States includes a three-week visit to Japan. There, she studied Japanese educational policies and procedures, including meetings with government officials, mayors, school superintendents and several days of observation in Japanese schools from elementary to high schools.
Another component of the program was the home-stay, where she was able to stay with a Japanese family and have an up-close look at family life in Japan.
Upon her return to the United States, Mock will weave Japanese culture into her reading classes through the various forms of Japanese literature, poetry and theater she studied while in Japan.
