Burket Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire Saturday just after 6 p.m. at 5353 W. Finch Road, Claypool. According to Burket Fire Chief Kevin McSherry, the resident was inside the mobile home watching television when a trash barrel outside caught the surrounding grass on fire. The fire burnt in a nearly 40-foot radius around the trash barrel, reaching underneath the mobile home, catching it on fire. The resident escaped without injury and managed to leave with a few personal possessions, though the mobile home is a total loss. McSherry said it took at least 30 minutes to control the fire, and Mentone Fire Department assisted. According to county records, the mobile home is owned by Bell Clyde of Burket.
