WINONA LAKE - The Committee to Commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. will hold its annual ceremony Monday.
The ceremony will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rodeheaver Auditorium, Winona Lake.
This is the 21st year for the ceremony, according to Joe Banks, chairman of the committee.
There will be five people who will speak during the ceremony who were involved with the 2008 Day of Caring in August.
In addition to Banks, the four other speakers include Pam Kennedy, Housing Opportunities of Warsaw executive director; Pat Coy, United Way of Kosciusko County executive director; April Ware, a recipient of Day of Caring work; and Syracuse Town Marshal Tony Ciriello.
Banks said young and old, and men and women of all races and backgrounds came together to work on home repairs in Kosciusko County in August during the Day of Caring.
Banks also will make a speech to pay tribute to the inauguration of the first African-American president.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Academic excellence awards will be presented to two students during the ceremony.
Special music will be provided by a choir and praise dance team from Touch of Life Church, Warsaw.
This year's theme is "Table of Brotherhood," focusing on the Day of Caring.
