WEST POINT, N.Y. - U.S. Army Maj. Bradley K. Mitchell, a 1985 Wawasee High School graduate, recently was selected to attend the Army Command and Staff College.
In a letter to Mitchell from Richard B. Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mitchell's selection "reflects the faith and confidence the Army has in your abilities and is indicative of those talents that make you an invaluable member of the Joint Staff. I know that we will continue to hear great things about you in the future."
After graduation from Wawasee, Mitchell graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. He joined the infantry as a second lieutenant and qualified for airborne and rangers. His first four years were in Germany and then he served as a company commander at Fort Drum, N.Y.
Since 1998, Mitchell has shuttled between Washington, D.C., and various locations in Europe. He has served on the Secretary of Defense staff and completed a master's degree in foreign policy from the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies. After a year's tour in Budapest, Hungary, he is currently assigned to the Joint Staff in the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate.
Mitchell is married to the former Jeanne Poitras, also an Army major and a medical doctor assigned to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington.
Mitchell is the son of Karen and Thorpe Mitchell, pastors of the Miracle Church in North Webster.
