Stephanie Arthur was crowned Miss Mentone 2001 Saturday during the Mentone Egg Festival. Six other contestants also participated in the fund-raising project. The contestants collected a penny per vote and sponsored other activities for the competition. Proceeds benefit nonprofit organizations throughout the year. This year's competition was so fruitful the overseeing committee doubled the contestants' savings bonds. Jackson was presented a $1,000 bond; Ross received a $400 savings bond; Korb was given a $200 savings bond; and the other four contestants received a $100 savings bond each.
