Melissa Hughes was Miss Mentone for 2005. Her sister, Amanda Hughes wears the crown for 2006. Six girls raised funds for the contest this year with Amanda making the most money. Proceeds will go to items for the Mentone Community Emergency Services Building. Hughes earned a $500 savings bond. First runner-up Natalie Moore received a $250 savings bond and second runner-up Kylee Walton received a $100 savings bond.
