Karla Jo Ross, 17, was named Miss Mentone 2002 during last weekend's Egg Festival. Ross, the daughter of Eric and Sharon Ross, raised the most votes through car washes, bake sales and canisters asking for penny votes. She was sponsored by Lake City Bank of Mentone. Other contestants included Ashley Cook, Priscilla Gillman and Megan Workman, all Tippecanoe Valley High School students. Money raised during the contest will go toward the Bell Memorial Library's move to the Saeman Building later this year and toward the Bell Museum's sponsorship of the traveling Vietnam War Memorial Wall, scheduled to arrive Sept. 22, 2003. Results of the parade and other contests will be published tomorrow in the Times-Union. Photo by Teresa Smith, Times-Union
