SYRACUSE - An investigation by the Syracuse Police Department led to the arrest of a convicted felon who is believed to have stolen three guns.
Billy Joe Butler, 39, Mishawaka, was arrested at 6:02 p.m. Thursday on a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond was set at $100,000.
According to Syracuse Town Marshal Tony Ciriello, Butler was hired as a subcontractor, working on an apartment in Syracuse. While working on that apartment, Butler allegedly stole three guns.
Butler was previously convicted of armed robbery and a drug conviction in Indiana.
Ciriello also said that Butler was involved in a robbery in Florida where somebody was shot and killed, though Butler was not the shooter.
Syracuse Police Department was aided by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.
