Miriam “Mimi” J. Kohler, formerly of Winona Lake, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, in the care of Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw at the age of 81. Throughout her life, Mimi was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She would most want to be remembered for her faith in her Savior Jesus Christ.
Born on Nov. 30, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Esther Samuelson and Clarence A. Jeunnette, Mimi earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Cairn University in Langhorn, Pa. Mimi married the love of her life, John Martin Kohler, on June 8, 1968. They were blessed with raising four sons and celebrated 56 years of marriage together before he passed away on Jan. 13, 2025.
In 1986, John and Mimi relocated their family from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Winona Lake, where they became deeply rooted as long-standing members of Winona Lake Grace Church. Mimi possessed a true servant’s heart, always eager to volunteer whenever her church family needed her. Mimi spent most days reading, doing puzzles and creating beautiful crafts and handmade cards, sending them to loved ones for every occasion-and often for no reason at all. She enjoyed her role as a dedicated homemaker, happily decorating her own home and the homes of others with her creations. Above all, Mimi cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren, often attending many of their extra-curricular activities.
She leaves behind her four sons: Brian (Katrina) Kohler, Warsaw; Dwight (Geri) Kohler, North Pole, Alaska; Todd (Jennifer) Kohler, Warsaw; and Eric (Terra) Kohler, Helena, Ala. Also surviving are her 16 beloved grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Miriam’s life at a memorial gathering from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Hub of Winona Lake Grace Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake. She was laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth-Byers Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
Online condolences may be sent through the funeral home’s website at www.redpathfruthfuneralhome.com.
