Miriam A. BoardmanMENTONE – Miriam A. Boardman, 88, of rural Mentone, passed away at 4:33 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, at her home with her family at her side.

Miriam was born on March 13, 1933, in Logansport, to the late Floyd “Sug” and Geneva Long Cain.  She was married on May 6, 1950, in Logansport, to Bill L. Boardman, who preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2019.  

She was a graduate of Mentone High School in 1964. Miriam and Bill shared a lifetime working together. She attended General Motors Accounting School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and they worked for 31 years at Boardman's Chevrolet of Bourbon.

Miriam’s early years were active with her children’s activities. She served on the first EMS team in Mentone for 12 years. She also served her community on the Mentone Town Board for eight years. She was president of the Lambda Chi Sorority, Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and taught Gov. at Girl’s State. She was a member of Mentone United Methodist Church since 1957 and assumed many roles during her life. She always enjoyed wintering in Harlingen, Texas, which she and her husband had done for 30 years.

She is survived by her daughters: Terri and husband Ken Snyder and Kimberly and husband Allen Krichbaum; son, Pedro “Pete” and wife Tina Boardman; grandchildren: Darek, Dax, Jarvis, Damion, Tana, Justin, Jarrid, Connor, Clayton, Caleb and Collin; 13 great-grandchildren; and brothers: Jack and wife Nancy Cain, of Walton; and James and wife  Dorthy Cain, of Rochester.

Miriam was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill.

The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Jeff Herron officiating.

The interment will take place in the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone, with her husband.

Visitation hours will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
