Groundbreaking ceremonies were held Friday for the addition of an assisted living complex on South County Farm Road, Warsaw. The assisted living concept provides apartment-style accommodations for senior citizens who no longer feel comfortable living alone but who require only occasional or minimal help to remain independent.
Miller's Merry Manor was established in 1964 by the late Connie Miller and Wallace Miller Sr. The Miller family (sons V. Richard Miller and James Miller and daughters Beverly Marshall and Barbara Miller) continue close involvement in the company and serve as the board of directors of Miller's Health Systems, the parent company of Miller's Merry Manor. The current executive committee has helped actualize the dream of Connie Miller to provide a full continuum of services to seniors in the community.
Miller's Health Systems operates 31 health care facilities and seven assisted living communities in Indiana. Patrick Boyle, a Warsaw resident who has been with the organization since 1984, is the president and CEO. He said, "All of us who are part of the Miller work family are excited that the board of directors has approved the building of an assisted living complex here in Warsaw and we are eager to offer this service to the community. We anticipate completion in late fall."
The 53-unit complex will provide both studio and one bedroom apartments. For more information, call Susie Shepherd or Nancy Derry at Miller's in Warsaw, 267-8196.
