Millard Burchett, 82, of Warsaw, left this life at 4:05 a.m. Aug. 3, 2013, in his residence, with his wife of 43 years, Libby, and his sister-in-law, Martha Jayne Fearn, at his bedside. His life truly began at that moment; he went to sleep and awoke in Heaven. He was born June 16, 1931, in Emma, Ky., to John S. and Virgie Harville Burchett. He married Elizabeth “Libby” Wood, who survives and with whom he had a wonderful marriage and shared everything right up to the end. He had prayed for months for Our Heavenly Father to send his angels to carry him home. He had cried and asked Libby and Martha Jayne to tell him it was ok to go because he was ready. They both told him it was ok and he was waiting for it to be God’s time. Friday he told Libby he had always loved her and would continue to love her. He had won the battle, no more fighting the evils of cancer. Today he has a new body and is walking with our Lord while he waits for loved ones to join him. He left behind a testimony that leaves no doubt in the family’s mind where he is today. He worked at Zimmer Inc. for 25 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed going to yard sales with Libby, even with his illness, and she took him to many yard sales. He was a very quiet and gentle man who had a tender loving heart. While a wonderful family member is lost, Heaven gained a new angel. Also surviving are his loving and devoted son, Danny Burchett, Warsaw; and a grandson, Darren, Warsaw, both of whom were on this journey with Libby for the last year and truly loved their dad and granddad. Also surviving are a son, Bobby Burchett, Warsaw; a daughter, Patty Reynolds, Kendallville; four additional grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Walter (and spouse Jean) Burchett, Warsaw; a sister, Pearl Livingood, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Mary Gladys Burchett, Warsaw; and many nieces, nephews and friends who will mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter-in-law, Wendy Burchett, who died July 16, 2013. Wendy loved Millard and she was loved so much in return. The family believes at 4:05 a.m. Saturday, Wendy met Millard at Heaven’s gate and they had a joyful reunion. He also was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Flem Wesley “Bud” and James Estill “Jack” Burchett; and sisters, Josephine Humphreys, Pauline Burchett Jarvis and Lucille Goble Thomas. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Woody Burchett officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. ***** Condolences may be sent via mchattonsadlerfuneralchapels.com
